9 Ekim 1858 tarihinde Asir vilayetine bağlı Elcûf köyünde doğmuĢtur.
merkezi Zebid kazasına giderek eğitimine orada devam etmiĢtir. Zebid‟de ġeyh
Davud es-Sülemî, Seyyid Davut el-Hicrî, Seyyid Mehmed bin Hasan, ġeyh Hasan
el Harzemî ve Seyyid Mehm ed ġerifî‟den Hadîs, Fıkıh, Sarf, Nahiv, Meâni,
Mantık ve Ferâiz derslerini almıĢtır. Burada dinî ilimlerin yanında naklî ilimleri
de öğrenmiĢ ve Ġbb kazasına gitmiĢtir. Ġbb kazasında bulunan ġeyh Ali
medresesinde Tahir Ali Ansî‟den dersler almıĢtır. Ardın dan hac yapmak için
Mekke ve Medine‟ye giderek bir süre de burada kalmıĢtır. Medine‟de bulunduğu
zaman zarfında Ravzâ -i ġerîf imamı Seyyid Mehmed Emin‟den ders almıĢtır.
Seyyid Mehmed Emin tarafından kendisine sözlü olarak icâzetnâme verilmiĢtir.
Bir eser yazmamıĢ fakat ileri derecede Arapça öğrenmiĢtir227.
