Life and register readings
The life of Şerif Ali Efendi began in Pristina (Priştine) in 1867/68 (AH 1284). At about 16, in 1882/83, Şerif Ali began work in Pristina. The first annual entry, for 1882/83, places Şerif Ali in Pristina, the birthplace, as Defter-i Hakanî Kalemi stajyeri, where the entries run to 1889/90. Alongside, the lists for 1889 to 1905 give a second post, in Preševo as Tapu kâtibi. For 1905 to 1907 the lists have no entry. Şerif Ali then moved to Novi Pazar (Yenipazar) from 1907 to 1910. Alongside, the lists for 1909/10 give a second post, in Tetovo as Tapu kâtibi. In place of a title the lists give Azil (dismissal) for 1904/05.
