Life and register readings
Mehmed Said Efendi was born in Dagistan in 1868/69 (AH 1285); the father was a merchant (tüccar). Work began in 1893/94, at about 25, on a first salary of 750 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1893/94, names Mehmed Said as Zabıta-i sıhhiye-i hayvaniye memuru, with no place. In place of a title the lists give İstifa (resignation) for 1895/96.
