Life and register readings
The life of Mehmed Efendi began in Halmüke, Çemişgezek in 1868/69 (AH 1285). At about 16, in 1884/85, Mehmed began work, on a first salary of 150 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1884/85, with Mehmed as Evkaf-ı Hümayun Nezareti mülga Deavi Vekâleti hademesi and no place named. For 1886 to 1888, 1889 to 1899, 1900 to 1906 and 1907 to 1909 the lists have no entry. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1888/89 and 1909/10.
