Life and register readings
The life of Süleyman Efendi began in Gjilan (Gilan) in 1863/64 (AH 1280). Work began in Gjilan in 1878, at about 15, on a first salary of 200 kuruş. Every annual entry from 1878 to 1885/86 places Süleyman in the same post, Kol muharriri ve mukayyit, in Gjilan, the birthplace.
