Mehmed Halid Efendi was born in Bursa in 1862/63 (AH 1279) into the İslam community. At about 24, in 1886/87, Mehmed Halid began work in Bursa. The annual lists begin in 1886/87, with Mehmed Halid as mahkemesi şer’iye kitâbeti in Bursa, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1892/93. Alongside, the lists for 1898/99 give a second post, in Kırklareli as Kırkkilise tebabeti. The last entries, from 1901 to 1909, name Mehmed Halid as Meclis-i maârif âzâlığı, with no place.
