Life and register readings
Born in Bursa in 1887/88 (AH 1305) into the İslam community, Mehmed Tevfik Efendi was the child of a tradesman (esnaf). Work began in 1901/02, at about 14. The first annual entry, for 1901/02, names Mehmed Tevfik as Mulazemet, with no place, with a rise to a post in the Tapu Kitabeti in 1911. For 1903 to 1908 and 1909 to 1911 the lists have no entry.
