Life and register readings
The life of Receb Recai Efendi began in Lyaskovets (Leskofça) in 1860/61 (AH 1277); the father's occupation was "Priştine Düyun-ı Umumiye kolcusu". At about 23, in 1883/84, Receb Recai began work, on a first salary of 200 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1883/84, names Receb Recai as Aşar kol muharriri, with no place. Receb Recai then moved to Pristina in 1886/87, then a post with no place named from 1889 to 1895. For 1887 to 1889 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1890/91 give a second post, in Gjilan as Düyun-ı Umumiye memur vekili. Alongside, the lists for 1890 to 1896 give a second post, in Pristina as Düyun-ı Umumiye İdaresi stajyeri. The lists give Vefat (death) for 1895/96 instead of a title.
The salary went from 200 kuruş a month in 1883/84 to 300 in 1889/90, the peak, when 29 per cent of paid officials earned less. In all, six years of salary come to 19,200 kuruş, 66 per cent of what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The last annual entry is for 1895/96.
