Gül Hüseyinzâde lakaplı ve Burdur Nüfus Kalemi Mukayyidi Hacı Ömer Efendi’nin
oğludur. 1267/1850-1851 yılında Burdur Kasabası’nda doğmuştur. Mahalle Sıbyan
Mektebi’nde dini ilimlere başlangıç okumuştur. Medrese’de sarf ve nahv (dilbilgisi), Molla
Cami ve tasdikata kadar Arapça ve Farsça okumuştur. Türkçe yazar.
