Life and register readings
İbrahim Efendi was born in Baghdad (Bağdat) in 1879/80 (AH 1297). At about 10, in 1889/90, İbrahim began work in Baghdad. Few began so young; 47 of the 5,664 officials whose age at first work is known started at 10 or younger. Every annual entry from 1889/90 to 1898/99 places İbrahim in the same post, Vilayet Mektubi Kalemi mülazımı, in Baghdad, the birthplace.
