Life and register readings
The life of Mahmud Efendi began in Preveze in 1853/54 (AH 1270). At about 15, in 1868/69, Mahmud began work in Preveza (Preveze). The annual lists begin in 1868/69, with Mahmud as Tahrirat Kalemi mülazımı in Preveza, where the entries run to 1870/71. Alongside, the lists for 1870 to 1878 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Tahrirat kâtibi, with a rise to Mal Muduru in 1874/75. The lists have no entry for 1878 to 1883.
