Life and register readings
Ömer Lütfi Bey was born in Ürgüp in 1871/72 (AH 1288); the father's occupation was "Bayındır eski kaymakamı". At about 23, in 1894/95, Ömer Lütfi began work, on a first salary of 500 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1894/95, names Ömer Lütfi as Vilayet maiyet memuru, with no place. Alongside, the lists for 1896/97 give a second post, in Eşme as Kaymakam vekili.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 500 kuruş a month in 1894/95, when 55 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1897/98.
