MEHMET GALĠP EFENDĠ was born in Antalya in 1843/44 (AH 1259); the father was a merchant (tüccar). Work began in Antalya in 1854/55, at about 12. MEHMET GALĠP EFENDĠ then moved to a post with no place named from 1859 to 1869, with a rise to Meclis-i idare başkâtibi in 1866/67, then Burdur from 1874 to 1878.
