Life and register readings
Yorgaki Efendi was born in Izmir (İzmir) in 1826/27 (AH 1242); the father was a merchant (tüccar). Work began in Cebeli lubnan in 1861/62, at about 35, on a first salary of 2,000 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1861/62, with Yorgaki as Serkâtip ve tercüman in Cebeli lubnan, where the entries run to 1866/67. Yorgaki then moved to a post with no place named from 1869 to 1876. The lists have no entry for 1876 to 1878. The last posts were in Sulina (Sünne) from 1878 to 1881. The lists give Infisal for 1867/68, 1871/72 and 1881/82 instead of a title.
