Life and register readings
Mehmed Behçet Efendi was born in Taşköprü in 1859/60 (AH 1276); the father's occupation was "Asâkir-i şâhâne tabur kâtibi". At about 15, in 1874/75, Mehmed Behçet began work in İskilip. From the first annual entry, for 1874/75, to 1896/97, every annual entry places Mehmed Behçet in the same post, Mahkeme mülâzemeti, in İskilip. The lists give Infisal for 1879/80, 1882/83, 1892/93 and 1896/97 instead of a title.
The one salary in the lists is 200 kuruş a month, for 1882/83, when 12 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1896/97.
