Life and register readings
Yusuf Cemil Efendi was born in Cemil (Ürgüp) in 1873/74 (AH 1290). Work began in 1889/90, at about 16, on a first salary of 80 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1889/90, names Yusuf Cemil as a candidate official (Mülazım), with no place, with a rise to Dördüncü sınıf memur in 1893/94.
