Nureddin Efendi

The life of Nureddin Efendi began in Antakya in 1868/69 (AH 1285); the father's occupation was "Evkaf Memuru Vekili". Nureddin began work in Antakya in 1892/93, at about 24. The first annual entry, for 1892/93, names Nureddin as Stajyer, with no place. Alongside, the lists for 1892/93 give a second post, in Samandağ as Süveydiye Harir-i Koza Fabrikası Memuru. The annual lists then follow Nureddin to Antakya in 1895/96. Alongside, the lists for 1895 to 1897 give a second post, in Samandağ as Süveydiye Harir-i Koza Fabrikası Memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1896/97 give a second post, in Belen as Belen Muhafaza Memuru. Next came Birecik in 1898/99. The last entry, for 1900/01, names Nureddin as Birecik görevinden ayrılış (İnfisal), with no place.

The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 300 kuruş a month in 1892/93, in Samandağ, when 27 per cent of paid officials earned less. In all, four years of salary come to 14,400 kuruş, 72 per cent of what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The last annual entry is for 1900/01.
