Life and register readings
The life of Süleyman Sadi Efendi began in Drama in 1878 (AH 1295). Pay rose from 100 kuruş a month in 1896/97 to a peak of 800 in 1909/10, in Istanbul, when 61 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1910/11.
