Life and register readings
Süleyman Sami Efendi was born in Mitrovica (Mitroviça) in 1844/45 (AH 1260). At about 19, in 1863/64, Süleyman Sami began work in Mitrovica, on a first salary of 150 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1863/64, places Süleyman Sami in Mitrovica, the birthplace, as Nüfus mukayyidi, where the entries run to 1878, with a rise to Askerî Fırka Sevk Komisyonu kâtibi in 1877/78.
