Born in Burdur in 1859/60 (AH 1276) into the Hristiyan community, Teodorus Efendi (H. 1276 / M. 1859-1860) was the child of a merchant (tüccar). Work began in Burdur in 1878/79, at about 19. The annual lists begin in 1878/79, with Teodorus (H. 1276 / M. 1859-1860) as Tahrirat Kalemi stajyeri in Burdur, the birthplace.
