Yusuf Enis Efendi

Born in Erzincan, Yusuf Enis Efendi came from the İslam community; the father's occupation was "Erzincan Defter-i Hakani memuru". Work began in Erzincan in 1877/78 (AH 1294). The first annual entry, for 1877/78, places Yusuf Enis in Erzincan, the birthplace, as tahrirat kalemi mülazımı, where the entries run to 1881/82. Alongside, the lists for 1881/82 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Erkan-ı Harbiye Dairesi ikinci şube nizamiye kalemi katibi. Next came Amasya from 1882 to 1887. For 1883 to 1886 and 1887 to 1895 the lists have no entry. At the same time, from 1886/87, the lists also place Yusuf Enis in a post with no place named as bidayet mahkemesi mukavelat muharriri. Yusuf Enis then moved to Amasya in 1895/96. Alongside, the lists for 1895/96 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Ziraat Bankası sandığı muhasebe katibi. The annual lists then follow Yusuf Enis to Erzincan in 1896/97. From 1898 to 1910 every annual entry places Yusuf Enis in Istanbul.

Pay rose from 75 kuruş a month in 1877/78 to a peak of 1,200 in 1909/10, in Istanbul, when three in four paid officials earned less. Over 21 years the salaries add up to 127,980 kuruş, 1.2 times what an official on the median salary earned. The final annual entry is for 1909/10.
