Life and register readings
Born in Ohrid (Ohri), Hüseyin Şehabettin Bey was the child of a finance director (mal müdürü). Hüseyin Şehabettin began work in Pristina (Priştine) in 1890/91 (AH 1308), on a first salary of 540 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1890/91, with Hüseyin Şehabettin as Sancak Tercümanı in Pristina. Alongside, the lists for 1895 to 1898 give a second post, in Skopje as Rum ve Sırp Mektepleri Osmanlı Lisan Muallimi. Next came Bitola (Manastır) from 1899 to 1910.
