Life and register readings
Zihni Efendi was born in Kütahya in 1865/66 (AH 1282); the father was a tradesman (esnaf). The first annual entry, for 1885/86, places Zihni in Niğde as Merkez muhabere memuru, where the entries run to 1888/89. At the same time, from 1888 to 1890, the lists also place Zihni in Adana as Telgrafhane muhabere memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1889 to 1891 give a second post, in Eskişehir as Telgrafhane muhabere memuru.
