Life and register readings
Şaban Efendi was born in Ulus karyesi in 1873/74 (AH 1290). Work began in 1893/94, at about 20, on a first salary of 300 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1893/94, names Şaban as emanet çavuşu, with no place. The lists have no entry for 1894 to 1896, 1898 to 1903 and 1904 to 1909.
