Osman Saib Bey

Osman Saib Bey was born in Ürgüp in 1841/42 (AH 1257); the father's occupation was "Ürgüp kazası idare meclisi azası". At about 21, in 1862/63, Osman Saib began work in Niš (Niş). The first annual entry, for 1862/63, places Osman Saib in Niš as Telgrafhane mülazımı, where the entries run to 1866/67. The lists have no entry for 1867 to 1896. Alongside, the lists for 1866/67 give a second post, in Vidin as Telgraf muhabere memuru. Osman Saib then moved to Botevgrad (Orhaniye) from 1899 to 1901. For 1897 to 1899 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1900 to 1902 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Telgraf ve posta müdürü. Alongside, the lists for 1901/02 give a second post, in Sahince as Telgraf ve posta müdürü. Entries spanning 41 years are rare, reached by fewer than 5 per cent of the 8,239 officials.

Pay rose from 480 kuruş a month in 1864/65 to a peak of 720 in 1866/67, in Vidin, when 68 per cent of paid officials earned less. That salary was paid for a single year, and the next list gives 400 kuruş. The last annual entry is for 1901/02.
