Life and register readings
Born in Argiri in 1855/56 (AH 1272), Resul Hayri Efendi came from the İslam community; the father was a tax farmer (mültezim). Work began in 1882/83, at about 27, on a first salary of 1,000 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1882/83, names Resul Hayri as Atina ve Pire Şehbenderhanesi imamı, with no place. At the same time, from 1887/88, the lists also place Resul Hayri in Podgorica (Podgoriça) as Podgoriçe şehbender vekili.
