Life and register readings
İstavri Efendi was born in Bursa in 1874/75 (AH 1291), into the Hristiyan community, and the father's occupation was "Bakkal". Work began in 1899/1900, at about 25, on a first salary of 600 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1899/1900, names İstavri as beledi tebabeti, with no place. At the same time, from 1901/02, the lists also place İstavri in Kavala as beledi tebabeti. Alongside, the lists for 1903 to 1906 give a second post, in Servia as beledi tebabeti. Alongside, the lists for 1905/06 give a second post, in a post with no place named as belediye tebabeti.
