Life and register readings
The life of Osman Efendi began in Çorum in 1856/57 (AH 1273). Osman began work in Edirne in 1875/76, at about 18, on a first salary of 30 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1875/76, places Osman in Edirne as Edirne merkez teşkilatına bağlı memur, where the entries run to 1899/1900. Alongside, the lists for 1881 to 1908 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Alişir Efendi Kütüphanesi memur yardımcısı. The lists have no entry for 1901 to 1907.
