Life and register readings
The life of SALİH SALİM EFENDİ (A) began in Dobrich (Hacıoğlu Pazarcığı) in 1867/68 (AH 1284). Work began in Mustafakemalpaşa (Kirmasti) in 1882/83, at about 16. The first annual entry, for 1882/83, names SALİH SALİM (A) as Bursa Rüşdiyesi mezuniyeti (Görevin sona ermesi), with no place. Alongside, the lists for 1882 to 1885 give a second post, in Mustafakemalpaşa as Mal ve Tahrirat kalemleri mülazımı. Next came Sulaymaniyah (Süleymaniye) in 1894/95. At the same time, from 1894 to 1897, the lists also place SALİH SALİM (A) in Aksaray as a district governor (Kaymakam). SALİH SALİM (A) then moved to Ilgın from 1898 to 1901. Alongside, the lists for 1900 to 1903 give a second post, in Akşehir as Kaymakam. For 1903 to 1905 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1902/03 give a second post, in Ardino as Kaymakam. The annual lists then follow SALİH SALİM (A) to Kirkuk (Kerkük) and Şanlıurfa (Urfa) from 1905 to 1910. Alongside, the lists for 1909/10 give a second post, in Bitlis as Vali vekili, with a rise to Vali vekili. Nine places on two continents in all, a number reached by fewer than 3 per cent of the 6,605 officials with a place of service.
The salary went from 1,250 kuruş a month in 1894/95 to 8,333.5 in 1909/10, the peak, in Bitlis, when 97 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1913/14.
