Ulemâdan Abdullah Hilmi Efendi’nin oğludur. 21 Eylül 1877 tarihinde
Karahisar-ı Şarki’de doğmuştur. Müftü Mahallesi’nden olan Mehmet Kasım Efendi
Karahisar-ı Şarki Sıbyan M ektebi’nde tem el bilgileri öğrendikten sonra
Karahisar-ı Şarki Rüştiyesi ’ne devam ederek 1890/1891’da şehadetname almıştır.
Daha sonra Karahisar -ı Şarki Hacı Yusuf Medresesi’ne girerek eğitim gördükten
sonra İstanbul’a gitmiştir. Burada Ocak/Şubat 1893 Payasoğlu Mustafa Çelebi
Medresesi’ne kaydolmuş sa bazı şahsi sebeplerden dolayı Karahisar’a dönmüştür.
Tekrar Hacı Yusuf Medresesi’ne devam ederek icazet almıştır. Farsça bilir.
