Mehmet Dehar Efendi, Ohri Ziraat Müdürlüğü görevinde bulunmuĢ olan Cafer
Efendi’nin oğludur. 1833 yılında Ohri kasabasında doğdu.
Sıbyan Mektebinde Kuran, tecvit ve ilmihal gibi temel dini bilgileri öğrendi. Daha sonra
sarf ve nahiv, mantık, maani, Ģerh -i akaid, ilm-i tefsir, hadis, usul -ı fıkıh, füru’, feraiz -i
cebri gibi dersleri Merhum Ohri Müftüsü Süleyman Efendi’den aldı. Kadı -mir, celal,
ilm-i tefsir ve hadis derslerini ise Ohri Medresesi Müdürü ġahin Efendi’d en
tamamlayarak diploma aldı. Türkçe konuĢma ve yazma bilir, Arapça konuĢurdu.
