Life and register readings
Born in Sivas (Oğlan Çavuş mahallesi) in 1861/62 (AH 1278) into the İslam community, Yusuf Ziyaeddin Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). The personnel record dates the first work to 1893/94, after the first annual entry, on a first salary of 300 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1870/71, places Yusuf Ziyaeddin in Sivas as Sivas Rüşdiye-i Mülkiyesine giriş. The lists have no entry for 1871 to 1893. The last entries, from 1893 to 1909, name Yusuf Ziyaeddin as Ulum-ı diniye muallimi, with no place. For 1894 to 1907 the lists have no entry.
