Ömer Hilmi Efendi

Born in Ortahisar in 1843/44 (AH 1259), Ömer Hilmi Efendi was the child of a tradesman (esnaf). Work began in Bolu in 1868/69, at about 25, on a first salary of 400 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1868/69, with Ömer Hilmi as Telgraf mektebi öğrencisi and no place named. At the same time, from 1868 to 1875, the lists also place Ömer Hilmi in Bolu as Telgraf ve posta merkezi muhabere memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1874 to 1877 give a second post, in Kalecik as Telgraf ve posta merkezi müdürü. Alongside, the lists for 1876 to 1882 give a second post, in İnebolu as Telgraf ve posta merkezi muhabere memuru.
