MEHMED SIDKI EFENDİ was born in Varna in 1848/49 (AH 1265). Work began in Varna in 1865/66, at about 16, on a first salary of 50 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1865/66, with MEHMED SIDKI as Varna Sancağı Muhasebe Kalemi görevlisi in Varna, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1878. At the same time, from 1874 to 1889, the lists also place MEHMED SIDKI in a post with no place named as Menafi sandıkları defterlerinin tarif ve tanzimi. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1878 and İstifa (resignation) for 1887/88.
