Life and register readings

Mustafa Rakım Efendi was born in Bursa in 1833/34 (AH 1249), into the İslam community. Work began in 1853/54, at about 20. The first annual entry, for 1853/54, names Mustafa Rakım as evkaf ve ahiren tahrîrat kalemi (mülazemet), with no place. The lists have no entry for 1854 to 1858, 1862 to 1865, 1876 to 1878 and 1885 to 1901. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1867/68, 1871/72, 1882/83 and 1901/02. Few careers in the lists are as long; fewer than 2 per cent of the 8,239 officials have entries spanning 50 years or more.
