The life
For twenty years, Emine Hatun’s house in Feke served as a women’s prison, and she also guarded its prisoners without pay for that duty. Financial difficulty led her to ask for a salary. A promise of 30 kuruş brought no immediate payment; when four more prisoners arrived, she refused to receive them. The local administration then appealed to the Interior Ministry, which sent an appropriation for her wages. [Abidin Çevik 2024]
