Life and register readings

Muhiddin Bey was born in Dagistan in 1829/30 (AH 1245). At about 47, in 1876/77, Muhiddin began work, on a first salary of 750 kuruş. Of the 5,664 officials whose age at first work is known, fewer than 2 per cent started at 47 or older. The first annual entry, for 1876/77, names Muhiddin as Çapakçur nahiye müdürü, with no place. Alongside, the lists for 1876 to 1878 give a second post, in Pertek as Pertek nahiye müdürü. The annual lists then follow Muhiddin to Ovacık and Carsancak from 1883 to 1886. Alongside, the lists for 1885/86 give a second post, in Pah as Pah kaymakamı. The last posts were in Karcikan from 1886 to 1888.

The salary went from 750 kuruş a month in 1876/77 to 1,215 in 1886/87, the peak, in Karcikan, when 85 per cent of paid officials earned less. In all, nine years of salary come to 97,920 kuruş, 2.2 times what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The last annual entry is for 1887/88.
