Life and register readings
Born in Istanbul in 1848/49 (AH 1265) into the Katolik community, Pozik Yosef Azaryan was the child of a merchant (tüccar). Work began in 1871/72, at about 22, on a first salary of 1,000 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1871/72, with Pozik Yosef Azaryan as Ticaret ve Nafia Nezareti Turuk ve Meabir İdaresi muhasebe memuru and no place named. Alongside, the lists for 1877/78 give a second post, in Zara as Şehbender. The annual lists then follow Pozik Yosef Azaryan to Vidin from 1879 to 1886. Alongside, the lists for 1882 to 1887 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Başşehbender.
