Officials first recorded in 1871/72 (AH 1288)

In 1871/72 (AH 1288) the collection records 720 officials; for 62 of them it is the first annual entry. The first annual entry is not the year of hiring: the personnel record gives the year of first work in a separate field. For 46 of the 62 that year is earlier. See How to read the records.

The first entries are in 40 places; Istanbul (Dersaadet) has 13 of them, Üsküdar 4 and Beyoğlu 3. The most frequent job titles are Muhabere Memuru (25), Memur (5) and Çavuş (4). The median salary in 1871/72 was 330 kuruş a month, over the 62 with a salary that year.
