Officials first recorded in 1897/98 (AH 1315)

In 1897/98 (AH 1315) the collection records 2,500 officials; for 88 of them it is the first annual entry. The first annual entry is not the year of hiring: the personnel record gives the year of first work in a separate field. For 77 of the 88 that year is earlier. See How to read the records.

The first entries are in 45 places; Istanbul (Dersaadet) has 26 of them, Beyoğlu 5 and Galata 4. The most frequent job titles are Muhabere Memuru (35), Mersule Memuru (6) and Seyyar Memur (6). The median salary in 1897/98 was 200 kuruş a month, over the 88 with a salary that year.
