Officials first recorded in 1888/89 (AH 1306)

In 1888/89 (AH 1306) the collection records 1,837 officials; for 114 of them it is the first annual entry. The first annual entry is not the year of hiring: the personnel record gives the year of first work in a separate field. For 77 of the 114 that year is earlier. See How to read the records.

The first entries are in 55 places; Istanbul (Dersaadet) has 37 of them, Izmir (İzmir) 6 and Beyoğlu 5. The most frequent job titles are Muhabere Memuru (48), Memur (11) and Posta Memuru (6). The median salary in 1888/89 was 285 kuruş a month, over the 113 with a salary that year.
