Officials
Officials first recorded in 1880/81 (AH 1298)
81 officials with the first annual entry for this year, listed by highest salary
In 1880/81 (AH 1298) the collection records 1,336 officials; for 81 of them it is the first annual entry. The first annual entry is not the year of hiring: the personnel record gives the year of first work in a separate field. For 65 of the 81 that year is earlier. See How to read the records.
The first entries are in 51 places; Istanbul (Dersaadet) has 16 of them, Thessaloniki (Selanik) 5 and Baghdad (Bağdat) 4. The most frequent job titles are Muhabere Memuru (38), Memur (7) and Muhaberat-ı Ecnebiye Memuriyeti (6). The median salary in 1880/81 was 300 kuruş a month, over the 80 with a salary that year.
The table lists them by highest monthly salary, the rank the personal pages give under “Recorded with”. Equal salaries share a rank. 1 official without a recorded salary comes last.
