Officials first recorded in 1898/99 (AH 1316)
93 officials with the first annual entry for this year, listed by highest salary
In 1898/99 (AH 1316) the collection records 2,461 officials; for 93 of them it is the first annual entry. The first annual entry is not the year of hiring: the personnel record gives the year of first work in a separate field. For 70 of the 93 that year is earlier. See How to read the records.
The first entries are in 55 places; Istanbul (Dersaadet) has 24 of them, Baghdad (Bağdat) 4 and Beyoğlu 3. The most frequent job titles are Muhabere Memuru (40), Muhaberat-ı Ecnebiye Memuriyeti (11) and Posta Memuru (6). The median salary in 1898/99 was 200 kuruş a month, over the 92 with a salary that year.
The table lists them by highest monthly salary, the rank the personal pages give under “Recorded with”. Equal salaries share a rank. 1 official without a recorded salary comes last.
