Life#
Born in Gümüşhane in 1877/78 (AH 1294), İsmail Hakkı Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was an imam. İsmail Hakkı had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi), and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 21, in 1898/99, İsmail Hakkı began work in Gümüşhane, paid from the start, on 145 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1898/99, places İsmail Hakkı in Gümüşhane, the birthplace, as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru), where the entries run to 1903/04. The last posts were in Aşkale from 1904 to 1908.
