Life#
Born in Vardar in 1871/72 (AH 1288), Süleyman Niyazi Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Süleyman Niyazi had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
Work began in 1893/94, at about 22, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1898/99, places Süleyman Niyazi in Serres (Siroz) as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru), where the entries run to 1903/04. The last posts were in Edessa in 1905/06 and Giannitsa (Yenice-i Vardar) in 1906/07.
Pay rose from 200 kuruş a month in 1898/99 to a peak of 250 in 1905/06, as Muhabere Memuru in Edessa, when 14 per cent of paid officials earned less.
