Life#
Born in Niğde in 1878/79 (AH 1296), Ahmet Hıfzı Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Ahmet Hıfzı also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Ahmet Hıfzı began work in the telegraph service (Telgraf) in Ilgın in 1898/99, at about 19, paid from the start, on 200 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1898/99, with Ahmet Hıfzı as Piyade Tahsildari in Ilgın, where the entries run to 1901/02. The last posts were in Niğde, the birthplace, from 1903 to 1906.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 200 kuruş a month in 1898/99, as Piyade Tahsildari in Ilgın, when one in ten paid officials earned less.
