Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1881/82 (AH 1299), OSMAN EFENDİ came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). OSMAN had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
At about 16, in 1898/99, OSMAN began work in Istanbul, paid from the start, on 300 kuruş a month. Every annual entry from 1898/99 to 1903/04 places OSMAN in the same post, communications official (Muhabere Memuru), in Istanbul, the birthplace.
