Officials first recorded in 1887/88 (AH 1305)

In 1887/88 (AH 1305) the collection records 1,727 officials; for 89 of them it is the first annual entry. The first annual entry is not the year of hiring: the personnel record gives the year of first work in a separate field. For 57 of the 89 that year is earlier. See How to read the records.

The first entries are in 45 places; Istanbul (Dersaadet) has 22 of them, Thessaloniki (Selanik) 6 and Galata 4. The most frequent job titles are Muhabere Memuru (31), Posta Memuru (8) and Memur (7). The median salary in 1887/88 was 250 kuruş a month, over the 89 with a salary that year.
