Officials first recorded in 1879/80 (AH 1297)
60 officials with the first annual entry for this year, listed by highest salary
In 1879/80 (AH 1297) the collection records 1,220 officials; for 60 of them it is the first annual entry. The first annual entry is not the year of hiring: the personnel record gives the year of first work in a separate field. For 41 of the 60 that year is earlier. See How to read the records.
The first entries are in 34 places; Istanbul (Dersaadet) has 18 of them, Aleppo (Halep) 3 and Adapazarı 2. The most frequent job titles are Muhabere Memuru (20), Muhaberat-ı Ecnebiye Memuriyeti (5) and Memur (4). The median salary in 1879/80 was 200 kuruş a month, over the 60 with a salary that year.
The table lists them by highest monthly salary, the rank the personal pages give under “Recorded with”. Equal salaries share a rank.
