Life#
İsmail Hakkı Bey was born in Istanbul in 1871/72 (AH 1288) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
At about 17, in 1888/89, İsmail Hakkı began work in Istanbul, paid from the start, on 75 kuruş a month. From the first annual entry, for 1888/89, to 1900/01, every annual entry places İsmail Hakkı in the same post, communications official (Muhabere Memuru), in Istanbul, the birthplace.
